Weekend for Couples

The weekend for couples, priests and religious brothers/sisters offers the opportunity to invest a weekend to rethink the most important aspects of living and the opportunity to renew concretely that “yes” pronounced on the day of marriage or ordination or consecration.

Here are some aspects of the relationship that are covered:

  • knowing oneself and letting oneself be known by those who love us
  • love is not a matter of feelings, but of choices
  • for a couple to be truly “married”, the marriage needs to be based on genuine communication
  • openness, listening, trust in others are the keys to real communication
  • the unity of the couple is the cornerstone of the family, the Church and society
  • the strength of the couple lies in investing today for tomorrow.

Through thirteen presentations in which three couples and a priest speak frankly and openly about their lives, you can live the experience of the Charism of Marriage Encounter in its four aspects: myself, you, God, other people.  This offers to participants an opportunity:

  • to experience being welcomed, loved, respected and considered important for who I am (myself)
  • to journey towards personal growth and growth in relationship with our spouse (us)
  • to get in touch with our dream, discovering that it is also the dream that God has for us (God)
  • to become aware of how we are important for others and how they are important for us (other people).
Whereas the weekend is Catholic, through their experience participants encounter a simple and profound spirituality that is not dependent on religious practice or prayers. Rather, it consists in valuing everyday life, looking more at being than doing more at our relationship of love than at efficiency. In this way, a certain balance of life is achieved: for couples, in their relationship and, for priests and religious, in their life in the community.

The weekend is proposed to couples and priests or religious of any age and culture. It is a Catholic experience, open also to non-believers and people of other faiths, who can participate by applying their weekend experience according to their ideals and values.
